Bifocal Contacts
Bifocal contact lenses are just like bifocal lenses in
eyeglasses. They allow the wearer see
clearly when looking long distance as well as to allow them to see near objects
such as a printed page.
The lenses has what are called powers.
There is one power in the top half of the lens for correction of distance and
another power that corrects near vision.
Some bifocal contacts have a distinct division on the lens between the two
different powers. Other bifocal lenses have a progressive distinction between
the two powers thus making the division less noticeable.
As with other contacts you can get bifocal contacts in both soft and rigid
gas permeable.
When you see the doctor for your contact exam be sure to ask any and all
question you can so that you have a clear understanding of what bifocal contacts
are, how they work and if you need them.
